Rumor has it that Paula Abdul turned down a $2 million dollar deal to replace Samantha Harris as co-host on ABC’s hit show, Dancing With The Stars. Sources close to Paula are saying that though she found the offer “flattering,” she ”doesn’t need the money and she didn’t want to leap into another reality TV contest right away“. Supposedly, Paula was originally offered $1 million to appear on the show as a contestant but when Samantha announced she was leaving the show, producers really had their sights set on Paula to replace her. I’m glad Paula turned them down… I’m actually hoping that the real reason Paula danced away from ABC’s offer is because she has already landed a gig on X-Factor with Simon Cowell. Cross your fingers…
In a radio interview on LA’s John Jay & Rich Show, Paula Abdul revealed that he return to television was just around the corner and dropped some very cryptic hints as to what she will be doing…
“I’m going back to my roots and doing a TV show that has something to do with my roots. I knew that I would not be able to say certain things. I want to be able to say everything right now, but I can’t.”
Oh Paula… Why do you play with our minds?!! When she says “roots” does you mean dance/choreography? Are she doing So You Think You Can Dance or Dancing With The Stars? (I actually hope not) Or maybe she means “roots” as in judging contestants in a music competition sitting along side Simon Cowell. Oh please let the X Factor rumors be true!!!!
My favorite audition from last nights American Idol. Contestant, Andrew Garcia, did this AMAZING rendition of Paula Abdul’s “Straight Up“. How I wish Paula could have been there to jump out of her seat, sway side to side and clap her hands above her head!
What the hell was up with Shania Twain’s appearance on American Idol last night?! She was acting a little… Well… Paula Abdul-like. Her flustered comments to this contestant in particular were so weird (but very funny)… LOL!
It’s actually very endearing that Shania ended up being such a goof-ball.
Rumor has it that Simon Cowell is courting Victoria Beckham to be another judge on The X Factor US panel! Victoria just appeared along side Simon this week as a guest judge on American Idol and there was definitely a fun little dynamic between the two that would make for good television. At one point Victoria even stopped her critique of a contestant to stand up to Simon for rolling his eyes at her. Word is Simon is paying big bucks to try to get her on board of the panel that already supposedly includes ex-Idol judge, Paula Abdul. Paula, Victoria & Simon… Sounds like a dysfunctional match made in heaven! I really hope this transpires!
… Drag-queens that is. Paula Abdul was photographed with famous drag-queen Chi Chi LaRue at Here Lounge in West Hollywood this weekend. Awww… Paula, we love you and we hope you end up on X Factor with Simon Cowell as the American Idol ship starts to sink!
The title of the post says it all… Simon Cowell has officially announced that he is leaving American Idol after this season to start his new show, the US version of TheX Factor. Simon has also suggested that Paula Abdul will be involved with the show as well but is keeping mum as to the capacity of involvement. (Though rumors have been circling for weeks that she will be a fellow judge.) I can’t wait to have Paula and Simon back together again. As for the fate of American Idol… I guess we shall have to wait and see but the producers better get someone MAJOR to fill Simon’s shoes or else you can kiss that show goodbye.
I don’t know if I’m just in a real good mood because it’s Xmas but I could not stop laughing after I watched this clip earlier today. It’s a vintage Paula Abdul television appearance where she is attempting to teach a gaggle of children how to do her latest and greatest dance move, “The Barbie”. The clip starts off innocent enough with Paula teaching a pretty basic dance move to the teenie-boppers, but the lesson quickly takes a turn for the “what the hell is she doing” when Paula starts furiously teaching a fully choreographed number with some pretty advanced techniques to the kids. The kids keep up for the most part but the clip is still pretty LOL worthy! Check it…
Word on the street is that Simon Cowell is prepping his exit from American Idol when his contract is up in May to begin hosting an American version of the singing competition X-Factor. Simon has been very vocal about his desire to bring this highly successful show to the states for quite some time now and it looks as if it’s finally happening.
It seems that Simon has been in talks with Fox since last summer and is preparing to make the big announcement sometime very soon! Simon has also stated that he just may swoop down and save Paula Abdul’s career from fading away in oblivion by bringing her along for the ride on the new show as a judge. That would be AWESOME!!! The show is expected to make it’s debut in Sept. 2011 on Fox.
Oh, Paula… As if quitting American Idol wasn’t bad enough for your career. Rumors are flying around that Paula Abdul has rekindled a flame with former boyfriend, Arsenio Hall. Arsenio apparently reached out to Paula after she quit AI to lend her his support since he is no stranger to leaving a hit TV show. (Arsenio was once the star of his own, very successful late night talk show until he quit and basically completely fell off of the radar of show-business.) Let’s just hope that Paula doesn’t succumb to the same fate as Arsenio and lands a major gig soon.
I love me some Mariah Carey… But I’m really looking forward to seeing what Hollywood special effects they use to hide the extra weight that she’s sporting in the film shoot for her new music video “H.A.T.E.U.“. Wouldn’t it be awesome if they use the “Paula Abdul” technique that they thinned Paula out with in her “Promise of a New Day” video? You know… The technique where they simply stretched the video to make her look 6 feet tall and skinny! Paula’s never looked better!
As much as I love Paula Abdul… Her “performance” last night at VH1′s Diva’s Live was an epic FAIL!!! First off… She lip synched the entire number while adamantly clutching the mike to her mouth the entire time as if she really had us fooled. Her dancing wasn’t even that hard and at one point during “Straight Up” she spins herself dizzy and almost falls off the catwalk!
To Make matters worse, later in the show Abdul pokes fun of her Idol replacement Ellen DeGeneres and even though she claims it was all in good fun at the end of skit… The whole thing just comes off a little pathetic and desperate. Sorry Paula…
I guess the producers of American Idol realized they really had to up the ante to keep a strong fan-base after the exit of Paula Abdul because they just filled the fourth judge seat with none-other than, Ellen DeGeneres!!! Talk about an upgrade… My only gripe is why Ellen? I know she has a huge following but she seems more cut out forLast Comic Standing rather than a singing competition. How is she any better a judge of music than Paula? I know a lot of people criticized Abdul for not being a qualified judge on the show, but a lot of the critique she gave was actually spot on and made sense.
Still, I do love Ellen and think she will definitely bring a lot of humor and personality to Idol. I guess Paula was always considered the comic relief of the panel so Ellen will be a good replacement in that sense.
Paula Abdul finally landed herself a pretty decent gig ever since she left Idol. She has just been booked to host the return of VH1′s Divas Live. The show will feature live performances from the likes of Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis, Adele, Jordin Sparks (Diva in training?) and Miley Cyrus (Wannabe dive?). Though Paula isn’t on the roster of performers… She is a “diva” in her own right and is a perfect host for the show!
