Ne-Yo To Give Music He Wrote For Michael Jackson To Janet…

by: Taj | August 10th, 2010

It’s pretty comment knowledge that R&B crooner Ne-Yo was working with the great King of Pop, Michael Jackson, right before his untimely death on new material. In a recent interview, the “Beautiful Monster” singer revealed that the material that he wrote for M.J. has been weighing heavily on his mind and that he has been considering giving the music to Michael’s younger sister Janet to record…

“I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with those songs. I can’t give them to anybody else because they were written for Michael. That would be disrespectful.

So if I could get Janet and the brothers to do a collaborative tribute, that would be a great idea. There are about 10 he personally selected. He told me, ‘I like this one, this one, this one.’ I can’t just put them out by myself because again they were meant for him but they’re really good songs, it’s good quality music.”

I think giving the songs to Janet would probably be a better idea than giving them to her brothers that barley have any sorts of singing careers left. Hell, I would give the songs to La Toya before Tito. LOL!

Will.i.am Extremely Not Happy About New Michael Jackson Album…

by: Taj | August 4th, 2010

Michael Jackson’s good friend/music collaborator Will.i.am is one music industry heavy-weight that is extremely NOT happy about Sony’s plans to release a new MJ album this year. Despite working closely with Michael on new material as well as some remixes for the Thriller re-release in 2008, Will says that the perviously unreleased material should not be released because Michael would not want the unfinished works to be heard…

“I don’t think that should ever come out. That’s bad. He was a perfectionist and he wouldn’t have wanted it that way. How you gonna release Michael Jackson when Michael Jackson ain’t here to bless it?”

“Now that he is not part of the process, what are they doing? Why would you put a record out like that? Because he was a friend of mine, I just think that’s disrespectful. What’s wrong with what he already contributed to the world?”

“You don’t disrespect someone when they’re gone. … How much can you suck from his energy? … Freaking parasites!”

As much as I really am intrigued and excited to hear some new MJ… I think I actually see Will.i.am’s point on this one! Michael was known as being a perfectionist when it comes to his art and to release this unfinished material is kind of a form of exploitation on the labels part. Then again… If this project is done right, Michael’s new music will most likely top charts, break a record or two and further solidify his title as the “King of Pop”.

Michael Jackson’s Estate Announces New Album In Nov…

by: Taj | July 30th, 2010

A rep for the Michael Jackson estate told Rolling Stone magazine that fans can expect a new album featuring 10 previously unreleased songs will be released this November.

MJ left behind computer multiple hard drives filled with unreleased music at the time of his death… His manager Frank DiLeo estimates that Jackson’s treasure chest consists of more than 100 completed never before heard songs, some of which being collaborations with Akon, DarkchildWill.i.am and Ne-Yo. Apparently, one of the most noteworthy unreleased tracks called “Don’t Be Messin’ Around” is from the Thriller era and is a strong contender for the album’s tracklisting.

The new album of never-before-heard Jackson songs will be the first in a 10-album project/seven-year deal the Jackson estate scored with Sony Music in March, according to Rolling Stone. Looks like Michael will continue to establish his title as the ‘King of Pop’ long after he’s gone.

Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins Says He’s Working On New Michael Jackson Project…

by: Taj | July 29th, 2010

Hitmaker Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins recently revealed that he is prepping to work on a new Michael Jackson project involving some of his previously unreleased songs. Jerkins told VladTV.com that the project will “definitely” be happening but will most likely take some time to complete because there’s “a lot of the red tape” involved in order to work on the songs. Jerkins co-wrote/produced a lot of the tracks on Michael’s last studio album “Invincible” back in 2001.

Ne-Yo Debuts Two New Music Videos That Will Leave You Asking “WTF?” …

by: Taj | July 15th, 2010

Ne-Yo – Champagne Life

Oh Ne-Yo… As much as I’m a fan of your song writing abilities, I really need to ask you wtf where you thinking when you filmed the music videos for “Beautiful Monster” & “Champaign Life“?!!! I mean, as if the mellow dramatic acting wasn’t bad enough… A choreographed dancing fight scene?! Really?!! At first I thought this was suppose to be a funny parody of a Michael Jackson video, but no… It’s meant to be taken seriously unfortunately.

So here’s the deal with these new painful to watch Ne-Yo videos… His new album Libra Scale is suppose to be a “concept record” which tells a story through the course of  songs and music videos. Ne-Yo himself wrote the plot to the story in which he plays a super-hero named Jerome who is trying to defeat a villainess (who use to be his love interest) named Diamond Eye before she destroys the city. I would explain the plot in more detail, but it’s not really worth getting into. Neither are these videos for that matter but if you have some time to waste… Knock yourself out!

Justin Timberlake’s “SexyBack” In The Middle Of Porn Lawsuit…

by: Taj | July 14th, 2010

A number of other record labels including Warner Records have filed a copyright infringement lawsuit last week against a porn company whose porn videos feature it’s actors lip synching to songs such as Justin Timberlake’sSexyBack” on camera while doing the nasty deed.

The company named in the lawsuit is RK Netmedia, whose websites include realitykings.com and inthevip.com. According to the suit, the videos are filmed in night clubs and private parties and feature virtually no dialogue on the part of the “actors”… Instead, they lip-synch to popular songs from artists such as Timberlake, Michael Jackson and Katy Perry. So basically, it’s a porn music video! To make matters worse for RK Netmedia, the film episodes are named after the songs.

RK’s attorney Marc Randazza argues that the use of music in these films was “fair” considering the environment that they were filmed in;

“If you’re going to film in a live night club, you’re going to absorb some of the ambient sounds. You are going to hear what the DJ is playing, and if someone can tell me how to shoot at a nightclub and police out the music in the background, I’m all ears.”

The labels are seeking the maximum penalties for the infringements, which basically equates to $150,000 per song. The complaint lists hundreds of infringements so the penalties could run up into the tens of millions of dollars!!

BET’s Vice President Defends Chris Brown’s Tearful Performance…

by: Taj | July 2nd, 2010

Ever since Chris Brown’s moving performance on the BET Awards where he broke down into tears during his Michael Jackson tribute, there have been a lot of speculation and rumors floating around online that the struggling pop star faked the tears to help revive his failing career. There’s one story going around that rapper Llyod told Chris to cry before his performance while other reports claim that Chris was seen putting “tear inducing” eye-drops in his eyes right before his “Man In The Mirror” performance to fabricate the water-works. Seems like the poor guy just can’t gain the trust of the public & media no matter what he does! Since these stories have surface, Llyod has gone on the record to debunk rumors that he suggested “crying” to Brown and more recently, BET’s VP Stephen Hill made this statement defending Chris‘ performance as being authentic.

“I think the pressure of the year and the lyrics of that song really just resonated. And, as someone who was backstage, there was nothing fake about that. I think there is a US Weekly story today about like his bodyguard gave him something to induce tears. Its just not true. I’ve been around actors who cry and when you fake cry, you don’t get…your throat doesn’t get swollen like it does [when you cry for real]. When he was trying to sing, he couldn’t get anything out. That’s a hard thing to fake. I appreciate people wanting to create controversy, but this guy has gone though a lot this past year, let this emotion be what it is. Everybody comes to the moment where you gotta make that change.”

I think he hit it right on the nose!! I think besides finally being able to pay tribute to MJ after being denied last year, the lyrics to “Man In The Mirror” were very profound and meaningful to Chris‘ own life. They speak to the trials and tribulations that singer has been made to endured over the last year as a result of the reproductions of his actions. Heck, I think I would have cried watching him sing that song if he didn’t break down!!

I also agree with Stephan that you just can’t fake the kind of guttural crying. I mean, anyone who’s seen the movie Stomp The Yard knows Chris‘ acting abilities… He’s definitely not that good!

Chris Brown Breaks Down In Tears During BET Michael Jackson Tribute…

by: Taj | June 28th, 2010

Everyone is talking, tweeting, blogging about Chris Brown’s Michael Jackson tribute at tonight’s BET Awards in which he “broke it down” then broke down in tears at the end of the performance. Some people believe that this heartfelt performance may just be Chris‘ redemption in the media’s eyes whom have been punishing him ever since he was charged with felony assault after beating his ex-girlfriend Rihanna. Chris‘ career has been on a downward spiral ever since but the sentimental tribute may be the beginning of a comeback for the “Forever” singer. We shall see…

Remembering Michael Jackson…

by: Taj | June 25th, 2010

One year ago today the world lost one of the biggest names in pop music history… A legend who’s contributions to music and pop culture is comparable to the influences of Elvis and The Beatles. The passing of Michael Jackson was one of the saddest days of our lifetime and although an entire year has passed, the void that he left in so many of our hearts continues to exist to this very day. Today rather than mourn the loss, fans from all over the world have been celebrating the musical legacy that Michael has left behind by paying tribute to the King of Pop. I’ve decided to go back in time a little bit and post one of my favorite tribute’s that aired earlier this year at the 2010 Grammy Awards. It was a touching rendition of “They Don’t Care About Us” performed by Jennifer Hudson, Carry Underwood, Usher & Smokey Robinson. (And it’s in 3D!! lol) I’ve also posted some of my personal favorite MJ songs and video’s after the jump… “Music never dies”.
