Nicole Richie Almost Sabotaged Ke$ha’s Career Before It Even Started….
If you’re an avid reader of my blog, then you’ve seen this video that I posted (above) before. It’s an old episode of Paris Hilton & Nicole Richie’s television show The Simple Life: Interns were the girls payed a visit to the Sebert family in Tennessee 5 years ago. Little did they know that the teenage daughter, Kesha Sebert, that they appeared along side of on the show would up being the huge pop sensation known as Ke$ha in 2010.
According to the “TiK ToK” singer, her mother, Pebe, was the driving force behind her family appearing on the show after she responded to an ad in the local paper seeking “eccentric families”.
“My family is literally the most eccentric family in Tennessee. It was retarded… Stupid, really stupid.”
Ke$ha has said of the Simple Life stint that has suddenly found its second wind on YouTube. But what a lot of people don’t know from watching the episode is that the then mischievous Nicole Richie almost sabotaged Ke$ha’s career as an aspiring musician. Even back then, Kesha Serbert was already writing songs and shopping them around to labels to try to score a record deal. One of her demo’s made its way into the hands of Swedish songwriter/producer, Dr. Luke, who is the man behind such hits as; Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone,” Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl” and Pink’s “Who Knew.” Dr. Luke was so impressed by Ke$ha’s talent that he personally called the Seberts‘ house to speak to the young singer/songwriter… An aspiring artist’s dream phone call, right?! The only problem was that he called at the absolute worst time possible and Nicole Richie answered the phone…
“She hung up on him,” Ke$ha recalls. “She said ‘Oh, it was just some guy’. Thank God he called back. She could have ruined everything, that bitch! Luckily she didn’t.”
Luke saw something very special in Ke$ha. He flew her to New York and Los Angeles for recording sessions, grooming her for stardom. During this period, Ke$ha wrote more than 200 songs. Some of which ended up being recorded by other major artists. (“This Love” became a hit for the Veronicas. “Time of Our Lives“, was recorded by Miley Cyrus for her latest album…)
Ke$ha was later indirectly reconnected with Paris Hilton when she recorded backing vocals for the heiress’s single “Nothing in This World.” And there was another random incident between the two when Ke$ha recalls, “I puked in Paris’s closet“. Sounds like a very interesting story that I’m hoping she’ll elaborate on one of these days. LOL!!
So… Now that Ke$ha has found her own “celebrity” in the Hollywood, is she in contact with Paris or Nicole??? This was her reply;
“Hell no!”
