Cheryl Cole is back with a fun little pop ditty called “Screw You“. In case you couldn’t tell from the title, Cheryl is lashing out against someone who did her wrong with her new single… Maybe her ex-husband, but some are speculating that her musical middle finger is directed towards her Girls Aloud ex-band-mates. Maybe it’s a little of both but either way, the song is a great F.U. anthem!
Cheryl Cole is proving to the world that just because she was canned from US X Factor last year, that doesn’t mean that her career is over. Far from as a matter of fact… Check out her sexy new video for her AMAZING new Calvin Harris produced single “Call My Name“! Here’s to bigger and better things!
Some of you know her as a former member of girl-group Girls Aloud, others may know her as the woman that Simon Cowell fired a few weeks into filming US X Factor… No matter how you it is that you’ve heard of her, Cheryl Cole is back as a solo artist with a brand new Calvin Harris helmed single called “Call My Name“! It’s a good thing Calvin has the new Scissor Sisters track circulation on the blogosphere right now otherwise I would start to worry that he was becoming a one trick pony! This track (as fun as it is) sounds like the love-child of Rihanna’s “We Found Love” and Calvin’s own latest single featuring Ne-Yo called “Let’s Go“. If you can get past the subtle similarities, the track is actually a fun little dance number for the summer! Take a listen and let me know what you think of Cheryl’s collaboration with Calvin Harris…
So Simon Cowell has broken his silence about the whole Cheryl Cole/X Factor firing/re-hiring/then firing again fiasco and attributes the story’s leak into the media and Cheryl’s US manage Will.I.Am as part of reason for the whole career-FAIL. This is what Cowell said about the situation that he claims he feels really bad about;
“The hardest thing to accept is that everyone has painted me as a monster because I embarassed her, but the truth was I was protecting her. I just want people to be in the best place at the right time. Earlier, bosses confirmed that after failing to respond to their offer to come back, she had been officially replaced on the US panel by ex-Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger – who arrived for an interview in London for the Graham Norton Show.”
Cheryl had already filmed four episodes of the US version of the show last month and supposedly after the first round of auditions in Los Angeles Simon was already concerned with Cheryl’s performance and asked her to “contribute more”. Then during the Chicago auditions on May 19th, Simon Cowellanf FOX execs decided that Cheryl wasn’t working out and that she seemed “uncomfortable” on the US version of the show. This decision ultimately led to her firing from the US show. She was then offered her UK gig back but declined. Then this last Saturday, the show’s executives changed their minds out of the blue and offered Cheryl her job back and gave her 24 hours to decide.
“Knowing Cheryl like I know her, we noticed she was quieter than normal, looked a bit uncomfortable but I put some of this down to nerves. The overall feeling was that she was slightly out her comfort zone in America, compared to what she was in the UK. If she had accepted my original offer, she would have made a sensational return and would have understood she was more comfortable in the UK than the US. I apologise that all this has become public and I understand the stress she is under, and I hate that. But we have all been under a lot of stress. When things like this happen I look at the contestant, they must think this is crazy. All the attention is on us. I am sorry this has caused so much anguish and embarrassment, but I stand by what I believe was the right intention. And I would say that to her face right now.
“When she turned down the UK show, we got back in touch and said, well she is still under contract with the US show so we invited her back. Her position was still there. We had some heated conversations with her US manager Will.i.am and he inferred this wasn’t a genuine offer. They thought that if she didn’t turn up on Wednesday then we wouldn’t pay her. We made it clear that she was always going to be paid in full. We got to the point on Saturday when we genuinely thought she was going to accept the offer but again neither she nor they returned any calls. So we’ve announced Nicole.”
Simon says he truly hopes that him and Cheryl can remain friends after this whole mishandling of her career and the way it embarrassingly played out in the media for the last few weeks.
“I had a text from her last Wednesday. She said she felt let down but at the time she undestood that it was a professional decision. I replied saying this was never personal or saying you were terrible. It wasn’t that she was terrible – she was good – I just thought she’d be happier in the UK. After the year she’d had with Ashley [her ex that she broke up with due to his infidelity] and the whole malaria thing, you either shut it down and go for it or you have to be with your friends and family to deal with it. We are close friends. I still hope we are but sometimes when you’re that close, when you’re making these decisions with someone’s life you have to be certain. I stand by what I said to her. I hope we’re still close friends. I’m sure if she was here now there would be a frank discussion, but will I work with her again? Definitely. She’s a star.”
So there it is straight from the horses mouth. It sounds like both parties involved were a bit at fault for the whole mess. Simon and FOX for being so indecisive about the whole thing and Cheryl for not accepting any of the offers that she was presented after the fact to keep her job wither here or back in the UK. To be honest though, her ego was bruised badly and I completely understand why she didn’t trust these offers to be genuine. Still it’s so sad that this is the end of the road for Cheryl’s X Factor career which she was actually riding high on in the UK. Supposedly, she is now being offered a position on the panel for the UK version of The Voice. I say take it if this is true!!!
So it’s a “big fat NO”… Cheryl Cole will NOT be accepting Simon Cowell’s offer to return to her gig as a judge for the US X Factor after being fired by FOX last month. Sources say that she didn’t bother replying to the offer because she is done being humiliated by the whole ordeal. GOOD FOR HER!!! This was FOX’s official statement today confirming Cheryl’s final exit…
“Nicole Scherzinger will be replacing Cheryl Cole on the judging panel of The X Factor. Nicole will join Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid and Paula Abdul on their search across America to find the next global superstar or group to win the life-changing $5 million dollar recording deal. Nicole has previously joined Simon Cowell as a guest judge on The X Factor for the UK version of the show in 2010. Steve Jones will act as sole host of The X Factor.”
Cheryl is supposedly returning to her roots and is working out the details for a Girls Aloud reunion tour in 2012. Glad she has her band-mate family to fall back on after this whole embarrassing and unfair debacle. To be honest, this whole shit-show of unprofessionalism on the network’s part has left a bad taste in my mouth for the show. I’m sure I will watch it when it debut’s but I’m going in with a chip on my shoulder.
So all the blogs and gossip sites were reporting yesterday that Cheryl Cole has been re-hired to judge on the US version of X Factor! She originally followed Simon Cowell across the pond from the UK to start the US version of the show but then was supposedly axed by the network executives who thought that US audiences wouldn’t understand her thick accent and that she lacked chemistry with fellow judge Paula Abdul. She was replaced by former Pussycat Doll who originally was hired on to co-host but now that Cheryl supposedly has her job back, Nicole will be bumped back to the hosting gig. The rumor that Simon Cowell is the main reason for Cheryl’s second chance and that he has been relentlessly fighting with Fox executives to get them to to realize that they made a mistake letting Cheryl go… Apparently, he was persuasive. Thought nothing has been confirmed about the firing or re-hiring yet, someone from Simon Cowell’s camp suggests that the executives have had a change of heart at this point ”the ball is in Cheryl’s court“. What a big mess…. Not a great way to start guys. Get it together.
The promo shot for UK’s X Factor has just been release featuring the newly added judge Kelly Rowland on the prestigious reality TV panel. Kelly has replaced Cheryl Cole who was suppose to follow Simon Cowell across the pond to be featured on the US debut of the hit reality show but is rumored to be kicked off of the US panel because of her heavy accent and lack of chemistry with Paula Abdul (another confirmed judge). This has yet to be confirmed yet but if it’s true this really sucks for Cheryl. As for Kelly, I’m really excited for her but I would be more excited if she was on the US version of the show!! Why not juts swap out Cheryl for Kelly… Problem solved for everyone!!
I’m a day or two late on this one due to a very busy work weekend but wanted to post it anyway for you guys. Check out UK X-Factor’s (And former Girls Aloud member) Cheryl Cole’s new music video called “Promise This“. The song and video are both very infectious! Check it out…
Here is the latest invasion by DJs From Mars. This week, they have taken Cheryl Cole Ft. Will.I.Am’s collaboration, “3 Words,” and mashed/remixed it with the Art of Noise classic, “Moments In Love” to deliver this awesome remix…
Lady Gaga was set to open the 2010 Brit Awards tonight with a extravagant dance spectacle, but may end up not opening the show at all! Rumor has it that Gaga showed up yesterday and scrapped her upbeat performance (that was rehearsed and set weeks ago) which she feels would be inappropraite for her to perform in the wake of her friend Alexander McQueen’s suicide. Gaga apparently decided (last minute) that she was going to change everything and perform a more sombre acoustic set as a tribute instead.
“Gaga’s final choreography was finished ages ago. The whole performance had been rehearsed and was ready to go, but when she turned up on Monday, she announced she is too upset about Alexander McQueen to do that performance. She says she’s changing everything. She wants to wear an-all black outfit and do sombre versions of her music as a tribute to him.”
Apparently, the Brit Awards organizers are not very happy with Gaga and are seriously considering making some last minute changes of their own by bumping the diva’s performance back and giving Cheryl Cole the opening spot.
While I do respect the gesture that Gaga is trying to make for her friend (If this rumor is true), there is still a golden rule in the entertainment industry that everyone is expected to live by: “The show MUST go on.” She has to remember that this performance is not only a representation of herself… But the ratings for the Brit Awards are also riding on it. If she really wanted to do a somber tribute, why has she not done it on her own stage during her own concert instead of on the Brit Awards’ time and money? I say bump her…
