Up and coming singer/songwriter Mateo has just done a beautiful cover of Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance“. As sick as I am of this song, I could listen to this new version on repeat for weeks! Also, check out Mateo’s Myspace page where you can hear some of his other recordings which are all pretty INCREDIBLE!!!

Lady Gaga’s New Career: Scarecrow…

by: Taj | February 25th, 2010

Lady Gaga seems to be all over the place these days. I can’t turn on the radio without hearing that annoying “Ra, Ra, Oo-La-La” intro to “Bad Romance” these days. She’s even turning up in the most unlikely of places, such as the crop fields of England. Check out this 7 foot-tall scarecrow that English farmer, Nigel Britten, has put up in the likeness of Gaga’s Brit Awards ensemble.

“We put her up last week and she’s had a remarkable effect. The birds must be terrified of her because they have stayed away.”

Funny, because Gaga has the exact same effect on red-blooded hetero-sexual men! I wish I would have found this picture yesterday when I wrote my Top 10 Worst Gaga Impersonations article… It would have definitely made the top 3!

“Bad Romance” Meets “Glee”…

It’s early in the morning and I can’t sleep thanks to this pesky cough that I have. I’m kinda delirious and I just came across this video of “Bad Romance” put to the television show Glee. I can’t tell weather I find this cute or annoying. Either way, it’s entertaining on some level.

Lady Gaga’s Recent Photoshoot Melt-Down…

by: Taj | February 22nd, 2010

Lady Gaga’s new racy photoshoot for Q Magazine has been generating a lot of buzz, but apparently getting the “money shots” did not come easy for the “Bad Romance” singer. Rumor has it that Gaga has a full on melt-down on the set and completely broke down into tears before lashing out on the photographer and storming off the set. Supposedly Gaga told her people that she hated the sexy photo’s and threatened to walk out on the shoot unless her boyfriend was allowed to photograph her.

The magazine wasn’t going to stand for that so they told her people where to go. Her behavior was weird.” Said one onlooker who also claimed that Gaga told  everyone, “I’m just not in a good place right now,” before storming off the set.

Honestly, the shots turned out HOT… They should get her to breakdown and cry on set more often!

Lady Gaga’s opening act in Europe, Danish pop group Alphabeat, have recorded a really good medley of Gaga’s recent hits “Bad Romance” & “Telephone“. I like these fun covers WAY better than the originals! Maybe Gaga should just write for Alphabeat and hang up the clown shoes for good!

Courtney Love Likes Lady Gaga But Not Her Music…

by: Taj | February 6th, 2010

… Which isn’t really a complement either way really if you think about it. Courtney Love recently revealed that while she doesn’t find Lady Gaga’s music “that compelling,” she does appreciate her as a person. This is what she had to Stylelist when they asked her what she thought about the Gaga;

“At the VMAs, I really wasn’t sure [about Lady Gaga]… One of my best friends is David LaChappelle and he loves her. He really helped legitimize her by doing a Rolling Stone cover. He came in like, ‘I met this girl and I love her, she doesn’t have a mean bone in her body’.

“She did something the other night [Her collaboration with Elton John] and I was like, ‘You know what, honey, take the cake, seriously’.”

However, even though Courtney has gained a new found appreciation for Gaga… She still isn’t pumpin’ “Bad Romance” in her car stereo!

“I don’t think her music is that compelling, but that’s cause I listen to rock music. I’m an old hippie. You know what I listened to last night? Stevie f**king Nicks.”

Ke$ha’s “TiK ToK” Continues To Squash Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance”…

by: Taj | January 26th, 2010

Only one week after Lady Gaga broke the record for most pop radio spins in Billboard’s chart history with “Bad Romance“… Ke$ha’sTiK ToK” comes swooping in and breaks Gaga’s one week old milestone with a whopping 11,224 plays! Not to sound redundant but “TiK ToK” has also spent the last 5 weeks at #1 preventing Lady Gaga from climbing past the #2 position to achieve her 3rd Billboard Hot 100 #1 single.

I honestly think that a lot of Ke$ha’s success is based on the fact that she speaks to a much larger demographic of young females than Gaga. She isn’t too busy trying to be “lofty” and segregating herself from the mainstream by proclaiming that her music and persona is as an expression of being a “freak”in the New York underground scene. Gaga is often compared to Madonna but if you look at the beginning of  M’s career… I think Ke$ha with her “party girl” sensibilities & “I’m not trying to make a social commentary, I just wanna have fun” attitude is a lot closer to early Madonna than Gaga. (Not that I think either girl is the next “Madonna” by any means.)

She also grabbed the #1 position on the Radio Songs chart with 119.7 million listener impressions. “TiK ToK” is further showing it’s staying power by maintaining #1 spot atop the Digital Songs chart, shifting 244,000 downloads this week.
