New Music: Kylie Minogue – Silence (Previously Unreleased)

by: Taj | May 31st, 2011

Kylie Minogue is done releasing singles but she has just released a new track titled “Silence” as a b-side to her “Put Your Hands Up” remix package. The Stuart Price penned song was an out take from Kylie’s Aphrodite album… To be honest, I love me some Kylie but not a fan of this song at all. I’m glad it didn’t make the album and it’s not as good as some of the other unreleased pop gems we’ve heard from Kylie in the past. Check it out…

Kylie To Re-Release ‘Aphrodite’ Album With New Music…

by: Taj | October 19th, 2010

Kylie Minogue fans get ready to lose your mind a little!!! Supposedly Kylie is in the early stages of  preparations for a re-release of her 2010 studio album Aphrodite!!! The news comes from song-writer/producer Luciana who offered “Cupid Boy” on the album’s original release. In a recent interview with Pop Trash Addicts, Luciana revealed that she has already submitted a new song called “If I Ruled The World” for the impending re-release of Kylie’s amazing dance album! The re-release will probably somewhat coincide with the launch of her Les Folies world tour. (Which by the way will be paying a visit to the US!!) Can’t wait to hear what Kylie will have in store for us with the reincarnation of the album!

Kylie Minogue Debuts In Top 20 On US Chart…

by: Taj | July 15th, 2010

International pop superstar Kylie Minogue debuts at #19 this week on the Billboard 200 chart with her new album Aphrodite marking her highest U.S. chart position since her Fever album back in 2002. The album stands in the top 10 in major American markets such as New York, Los Angeles, San-Francisco, DC, Seattle, Miami, Chicago and Boston. Globally, Aphrodite has debuted in the top 5 in countries such as Australia, Switzerland, Spain, Austria, France and Germany and currently holds the #1 position in the U.K. and Mexico. While Kylie has experienced massive success across the globe throughout most of her year career, she has been grossly under-appreciated in the U.S. market so this top 20 charting demonstrates a step in the right direction for the “All The Lovers” singer. Kylie released the following statement to thank her fans for the overwhelming response to the new album;

“I’ve been completely overwhelmed by the reaction to ‘Aphrodite’ around the world and to hear that the album has got to number 19 in the U.S. is the most amazing news. I am ecstatic!”

Crossing my fingers that this mild yet promising chart success will spark another major U.S. tour. I honestly believe that she would have not charted so high if not for her first major US tour that she embarked on last year.

Kylie’s “Aphrodite” Goes To #1 In UK & Breaks A New Record…

by: Taj | July 12th, 2010

Kylie Minogue’s amazing new album Aphrodite has debuted at #1 on the UK charts this week, knocking Eminem’s Recovery down from it’s thrown. This is Kylie’s 5th #1 album in the UK which has also broken a new record for the “All The Lovers” singer. Kylie is the first artist in history to score a number one records consecutively in the last for decades on the UK charts!! It’s amazing she’s been around for so long and she just keeps getting better and better. Plus she still looks AMAZINGLY HOT!!!! She truly is a modern age Aphrodite… Goddess of beauty and love.

Christina Aguilera’s “Bionic” Album Hailed Best Pop Album Of Year By Billboard…

by: Taj | July 7th, 2010

Finally, someone else is hearing what I’m hearing in Christina Aguilera’s new album, Bionic. Check out this gleaming reveiw by Billboard magazine which hails Bionic as the best pop album of year! I have been saying this for weeks now!!! (Although, I think Kylie just one upped her with Aphrodite)

“NEW YORK (Billboard) – We may have love affairs with all kinds of gimmicky divas, but it takes Christina Aguilera to remind us that singing really matters.

That’s not to say the pop star’s latest release, “Bionic,” is all about her voice, a muscular acrobat that’s become more elegant with age. Combine it with the inventive work of a diverse cast of producers and you’ve got the best mainstream pop album of the year thus far. Sure, “Bionic” was made for a post-Lady Gaga world, where the comparisons are inevitable and the sales stakes are high. But from the fidgety intro of the dub-tastic opening title track (produced by Santigold collaborators John Hill & Switch) to punk-brat driving song “My Girls” (produced by Le Tigre, with a guest rap from Peaches) to Aguilera’s gloriously restrained delivery on “All I Need” (Sia Furler co-produced the vocals), the 18-song set shows an artist confident enough to take direct cues from her tuned-in creative team. Because she’s bold enough to do it her way, Aguilera maintains her reign.”

Kylie Minogue Delivers Amazing Album With ‘Aphrodite’…

by: Taj | June 25th, 2010

Kylie Minogue has really delivered one of the best dance-pop albums of the year with her new effort, Aphrodite!! I just got ahold of my copy of the soon-to-be released album and after first listen I can definitely tell you that it is packed full of potential hit singles from beginning to end! For those of you fair weathered fans whom have lost touch with Kylie since her last few releases, Aphrodite picks up where her Fever album left off so it’s time to be reacquainted! There are so many great tracks that I’m tempted to post the entire thing, but instead I think I’ll narrow it down to only posting 3 for you guys to preview so you have something to look forward to when you buy the album. Here are the 3 tracks that really stood out to me after first listen… And believe me, it was hard for me to narrow it down to these 3!!

It’s A Kylie Minogue MEGA-POST!!

by: Taj | June 17th, 2010

3 things I wanted to post about Kylie Minogue but it’s getting late and I’m getting tired so I’m just gonna kill 3 birds with one stone and write a KYLIE MINOGUE MEGA-POST!!!!!!!

OK, to keep it short and sweet…

#1 – Check out this new extended preview of Kylie’s Aphrodite album which features short clips of all the new song:

YouTube Direkt

#2 – Kylie was recently interviewed by Blackbook magazine and was asked what she thought about being compared to Lady Gaga. **rolling eyes** Unlike Christina Aguilera, Kylie chose to take the high road and responded to the question in the most eloquent and diplomatic manner while still acknowledging that she sees some similarities;

“I think there’s an element of me in her. It’s all part of a chain. In as much as dance music has gone mainstream, I’d love to think that I’ve played a part in that.”

#3 – The footage of Kylie performing at the Wind Music Awards in Italy finally aired this week! Great performance but it’s identical to her Germany’s Next Top Model appearance last week. Check it out and goodnight…

Madonna Vs Kylie: Are You A Good Witch Or A Bad Witch?

by: Taj | June 16th, 2010

Jake Shears of the Scissor Scissors recently made a pretty genius analogy when he was interviewed by Blackbook magazine for their Kylie Minogue cover story. He basically made a hilarious but spot-on comparison of Kylie and her American counterpart Madonna to a couple of very well known characters from The Wizard of OZ.

“If Madonna is the Wicked Witch of the West, then Kylie is Glinda, the Good Witch of the North. She’s like a beacon of light for the gay community.”

As much as I love both women, I think Jake’s comparison is pretty accurate. (Sorry MadgeShears recently collaborated with his good friend Kylie on her soon to be released new album Aphrodite.

‘Attitude’ Has Published A Song By Song Review Of New Kylie Album…

by: Taj | June 5th, 2010

UK’s Attitude Magazine has done a song by song review of Kylie Minogue’s upcoming new album Aphrodite. After reading this write up, I’m excited as ever for the new release! Sounds like it’s going to be out of this world!!

“Is Kylie’s 11th album, Aphrodite, the soundtrack of this summer? Attitude exclusively reviews every track to find out.

Here is the news: Aphrodite is back-to-basics Kylie. It is cohesive, precisely thought out record that slots in more as a progression form Light Years and Fever than Body Language and X. The latter two – while having classic Kylie moments – suffered from a lack of direction or in X’s case, too many.

Album number 11 does not suffer from the same fate. It is direct, concise and very bothered about getting you on dancefloor and keeping you there for the next 12 tracks. Producer Stuart Price has said he wanted to create a houseparty feel to the record, with each track building the last, at which largely Aphrodite succeds (though to be honest, there may be a moment or two when you can pop to the loo).
If Aphrodite in the main sticks to a tried and tested clubbing beat of falling in and out of love on the dancefloor, there are moments when there’s at least a nod to her reality and it’s these that lift Aphrodite into classic Kylie territory. To be completely Gay about it: it’s like she’s talking to us. It’s in “All The Lovers” sense of romantic history, in the title track’s line “I was gone and now I’m back” and in the gung ho fighting spirit of “Better Than Toda“.

“All The Lovers”
All The Lovers” works because it sounds quintessentially Kylie. High points: the bit where the piano comes in half way through the second verse, simultaneously adding melancholy to the euphoria; in the middle eight breakdown-glitter-explosion; the sentiment at its heart which might touch upon the feelings of a 41-year-old woman.

“Get Outta My Way”
The first indication of where Aphrodite is going, “Get Outta My Way” sounds like a potential single that would work in the way “Love At First Sight” did, AKA take over the summer’s dancefloors. It’s got a big pulsating bear verses that build and build and a punchy, throw-some-shapes chorus. Aphrodite is about creating archetypecal dancefloor fillers and its a result, routinely throws off brillant middle eights. This track is no exception -a big handclaps-meets-Keane piano line before the whole thing explodes again.
