Word in H-Wood is that Rihanna is being courted to star in the new television remake of the classic crime drama, Charlie’s Angels. Lucy Liu (who stared in the very successful movie version of the show) is another actress who is rumored to be up for a role… The new “Angels“ will be an hour long program that will debut this fall on ABC. While no one is absolutely sure who will step into the rolea of the angels quite yet… One role has already be cast for sure! The unseen mystery man behind the speaker-box named Charlie will be portrayed by 92 year old John Forsythe – The man who played the role in the original series.
NOOO!! Please say it ain’t so, Paula! Word on the blogosphere is that Paula Abdul is set to host the new Star Search on ABC!! What happened to all the rumors about Simon Cowell bringing her into his new show, X-Factor?!! As much as I love Paula, she’s just not as interesting when she has hosting duties all by herself. Just look to her solo stint hosting VH1′s Divas Live… Not very good! What makes her really “wacky” and interesting enought to watch is when you put her in a panel, interacting with other people. Hopefully the producers of Star Search will work out her role in the show so she has someone to disagree and argue with…
Poor Adam Lambert just can’t get a break. Looks like ABC has canceled yet ANOTHERLambert appearance following his fallout of his homo-centric AMA performance. The network already scrapped his Good Morning America performance immediately following the AMA’s and replaced him with Chris Brown of all people… Because apparently being a woman beater is better for family values than being gay… And now ABC has decided to nix Adam’s late night appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live that was scheduled for Dec. 17th.
Adam took to his Twitter account to break the news to his fans last night and he seems to have a very positive attitude about the whole ordeal. He also dropped another bomb on everyone… ABC has also cancled his New Years Rockin’ Eve performance;
“Yes, sadly friends, ABC has canceled my appearances on Kimmel and NYE… Don’t blame them. It’s the FCC heat… It’ll all blow over… Let’s focus on being positive.”
I think Adam is smart (for his career’s sake) to take such a diplomatic approach about all this so not to cause any further waves in this pool of prejudice… But I kinda wish there was more of an “issue” made of this. He didn’t do anything that hasn’t been done before by countless female pop artists and he is being punished for it… It’s kinda ridiculous.
Here’s the first look at Janet Jackson’s special that will appear on ABC next Weds night. She will talk for the first time about her brother Michael’s passing as well as her the future of her career and music. She looks great, by the way!
Earlier this week it was announced that ABC will not be airing a new episode of their supernatural drama Eastwick on the week of Nov 18th but instead would be broadcasting a Janet Jackson special in its place. At first, ABC did not release any further information about what kind of “special” this would be until now..
I was hoping it would be a gigantic musical spectacle that featured JJ in full on performance mode but it turns out that this “special” will be Janet’s first prime-time interview after Michael’s death. The hour long interview which will be conducted by ABC’sRobin Roberts will take place from Janet’s Malibu home which television camera’s have never been allowed into before this special.
I’m sure that Janet will also be promoting her greatest hits album which coming out just in time for the holidays. I hope she sneaks in a number or two though it’s highly doubtful…
Check out the video premiere for Rihanna’sother single “Wait Your Turn” (also known as “The Wait Is Ova”). This video seems more like a promo vid for the album rather than a full on music video release. Strange that we got this video before “Russian Roulette” which is slated to be released on November 13th on ABC’s 20/20. Maybe this song ISN’T gonna be an “official” single and will is being released as teaser track to create “buzz”. Anyway, the dark and grainy video does make me appreciate the mood of the song more. After a long of bout silence Rihanna is finally publicly speaking out about the Chris Brown assault that happened last February. In the December issue of Glamour magazine, Rihanna is being honored as one of Glamour’s women of the year and gives a candid interview about that horrific night and the aftermath…
“I went to sleep as Rihanna and woke up as Britney Spears. That was the level of media chaos that happened the next day. The positive thing that has come out of my situation is that people can learn from that. I want to give as much insight as I can to young women, because I feel like I represent a voice that really isn’t heard.”
The attack wasn’t the only thing that Rihanna opens up about… She also spoke about how upsetting and humiliating it was when the police photo of a badly beaten Riahnna leaked all over the internet;
“It was humiliating; that is not a photo you would show to anybody. I felt completely taken advantage of. I felt like people were making it into a fun topic on the Internet, and it’s my life. I was disappointed, especially when I found out the photo was (leaked by) two women.”
Rihanna will also make a television appearance to talk about the incident this week with a Diane Sawyer interview that will be aired as a two-parter on ABC’s Good Morning America this Thursday and Friday. I’m glad she’s finally opening up about what happened. Lord knows we’ve heard enough of Chris’ side of the story…
