Today Jennifer Lopez has dropped the official music video for her latest single “Live It Up“! Pretty smart (and calculated) timing , considering J Lo just performed the track last-night on American Idol. Even though I’m not a fan of the song (which sounds like a Nicki Minaj reject to me) I do find myself enjoying the fun music video a lot. Check it out…
Britney Spears has just dropped a new Dr. Luke produced track titled “Ooh La La” for the Smurfs 2 soundtrack. Being that the song was intended for a children’s movie, I really didn’t set my expectations too high and after hearing it… I’m glad I didn’t! It’s a little too over-the-top cheesy for my liking and the chorus sounds awfully similar to Madonna’s “Superstar“. (Which I wasn’t a huge fan of either.) Still, I’m sure the Britney stans will be smacking their lips on this piece of bubble-gum pop! Check it out and tell me if you’re feeling it in the comments section….
The first of the official remixes for Selena Gomez’ new single “Come & Get it” has made its way online this week! Cahill did the honors for Mrs. Gomez‘ and turned the mid-tempo, Bollywood inspired pop ditty into a shuffle-step dancefloor friendly dance mix. While this mix probably won’t make it into my sets due to its (not quite fast enough) tempo, it’s definitely a fun take on the song and will be in heavy rotation in my iPod! Now we can listen to the new Jump Smokers remix of “Come & Get It“! This one is very different for the Jump Smokers… Rather than going for their regular 4-on-the-floor sound, the Chicago based producers went for a trap-house sound on this one! Check out this brand new remix of Michael Jackson’s “Remember The Time” that was produced by Dez Rok. For those of you that may not know about Dez, he was a huge producer from the early 2000′s who had taken a long hiatus from the dance music scene and is currently making his comeback with this MJ production! I’m very pleased with this new era of Mariah so far… If we’re not counting “Triumphant” that is. Both the new song & the accompanying music vide are AMAZING. Very reminiscent of her Dreamlover/Daydream era which is my all-time favorite!

Jennifer Lopez is back with yet another Pitbull assisted first single called “#LIVEITUP“. At first listen, I’m not taking to this one as much as I did “On The Floor” & “Dance Again“. Parts of it I like, but the problem is that the song is all over the place. Besides the fact that I’m not a Pitbull fan and obviously I don’t like his part of the song, the track as a whole sounds like she tried take a couple of different ideas for two or three different songs and mash them all together into one big hot mess. Mariah Carey has just unveiled her new song “#Beautiful” which is a duet with r&b crooner Miguel. I really love this song but I still have a big gripe about it. Miguel sings on the track more than Mariah… Literally! He sings the entire first verse and chorus by himself! I mean if we’re being homnest, Mariah should be the featured artist on this one considering how little she sings in it. I don’t understand her train of thought lately when it comes to releases. Ok, done ranting. Putting all that aside… This is acually amazing song and I’m hoping it does well for her!

As much as I tried to resist this new David Guetta single “Play Hard” which features both Akon & Ne-Yo on vocals, I failed miserably and have been playing the song on repeat this week! And now the ridiculously over-the-top cooky music video just makes me love it more!Check it out…

British boy-band The Wanted have their commemorated their love for pop princess Rihanna into song by releasing a new tune titled “Walks Like Rihanna“. Honestly, this isn’t one of their better songs… It sounds more like One Direction than it does The Wanted. But I can’t help and laugh when they sing; “She can’t sing/she can’t dance/but who cares because she walks like Rihanna…” I’m willing to bet there’s gonna be some haters out their that will argue that Rihanna can’t sing or dance either. lol
So the song we’ve all been waiting to hear in full from Beyonce’s Pepsi commercial, “Grown Woman“, can finally be heard in all of it’s glory thanks to this fan-footage that someone recorded at Bey’s Mrs. Carter Tour. Though it isn’t the best audio recording, it’s good enough to get a gist of what we should expect. I actually like what I’m hearing so far… Is it amazing? No. Is it debut single worthy? Not really. Is it better than that mess of a “song” “Bow Down” that she worried teased us with? HELL TO THE MUTHA FUCKIN’ YES!! So if Beyonce’s strategy by leaking “Bow Down” first was to disappoint us so badly that when she released anything mediocre level and up afterwards, we would instantly love it out of relief that it wasn’t garbage… Mission accomplished! House legends Daft Punk have returned to bring back a little “funk” into the EDM scene! Check out their brand new bass slappin’ single “Get Lucky” which features a little assistance from Pharrell & Nile Rodgers. It’s a 70′s throwback jam that totally grows on you very quickly and will be stuck in your head after only a few listens!

Will.i.am is set to release next single off of his still unreleased #willpower album but not without a heap of controversy of course! The new Chris Brown assisted track titled “Let’s Go” is said to have completely ripped off the Arty & Mat Zo EDM anthem “Rebound“. Will’s track is literally a note-for-note recreation of “Rebound” and according to Arty, Mat Zo as well as their label, the “Scream & Shout” crooner never cleared the use of their track. In an even more unexpected turn of events, Mat Zo has since deleted his Twitter account shortly after this controversy erupted but not for the reason that you would think! Here is Mat’s statement as to what was behind his de-Tweeting!
So basically Mat deactivated his account because he was sick of seeing the racist rants of his disgruntled fans that were racially attacking Chris Brown and will.i.am. If you spend any time at all reading celebrities Twitter accounts or the comment sections of popular blogs, you probably know how rampant racism is on the Internet. I commend Mat for taking a stand against this kind of behavior and issuing a statement in opposition to his own fans. We need more people like him in the EDM community!
