New Music: Annie Lennox – I Put A Spell On You

by: Taj | September 16th, 2014

Former Eurythmics vocalist Annie Lennox is gearing up to release a new album of cover songs titled Nostalgia and has just unveiled the first offering from the record, her rendition of the Nina Simone classic “I Put a Spell on You“. Annie’s vocals are as powerful and flawless as every on the new release (which should come as no surprise) but I’m really hoping she still has interest in giving her music the dance remix treatment because these vocals deserve to be blasted over the speakers in the club!! Take a listen…

New Music: Kiesza – No Enemiesz

by: Taj | September 15th, 2014

After finding success with her massive summer hit “Hideaway,” Kiesza is finally ready to serve us a follow up offering and has just released her next single titled “No Enemiesz“. Following closely in the footsteps of “Hideaway” the new song also dips in the deep house pond but is a bit more energetic than it’s older sister. I’m in LOVE with this one after just first listen!! Check it out…

Remix Treatment: Ariana Grande Ft. Zedd – Break Free (Barry Harris Remix)

by: Taj | September 13th, 2014

On behalf of the entire dance community, I would like to thank you Barry Harris for revisiting your classic Thunderpuss sound with some of your recent productions and bringing back the TP drama to the dancefloor! For those of you that haven’t heard, Barry is back and has been unleashing some pretty stellar productions that are stylistically nostalgic of his infamous Thunderpuss days while incorporating some “new school” elements as well! His latest… Ariana Grande & Zedd’sBreak Free“. I’ve loved this song from first listen but always wished that the production had a little more “oomph” behind Ariana’s powerhouse vocals. Thanks to Barry, it finally has enough “oomph” to properly blow  your speakers with…  And it’s a free download!! What are you waiting for?! Download, press play and let those speakers blow!!!

Video Premiere: Havana Brown – BaBing

by: Taj | September 9th, 2014

Havana Brown is pulling out all the stops with an edgy new single and steamy music video titled “BaBing“! At first listen I loved the production of the song right off the bat but was a little concerned that Havana may be partaking in a  bit of Luciana swagger jacking… But then I discovered that Queen Luciana actually co-wrote the song and all was right in the world again! New Music: Jennifer Lopez Ft. Iggy Azalea – Booty

by: Taj | August 26th, 2014

Jennifer Lopez is determined to nab herself a hit off of her new album which has received a luke-warm response since it was released, so the Latina diva has enlisted pop’s current “it-girl” Iggy Azalea to lend her a helping hand on her new single “Booty“. This was definitely one of the only standout tracks on her album so if she has any chance at scoring a hit, the combo of releasing this song with Iggy’s special guest feature might just do the trick!

Video Premiere: Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj – Bang Bang

by: Taj | August 26th, 2014

Jessie J’s channels her inner Christina Aguilera for the “Bang Bang” music video (A.K.A. “Lady Marmalade 2.0“) as she struts her stuff in the streets accompanied by a gaggle of female dancers a-la Christina’sCan’t Hold Us Down“. Usually I would be bothered by such blatant swag jagging but I actually love this song and the video doesn’t bother me. Why wouldn’t these hot new pop vixens try to replicate the flawless formula of “Lady Marmalade“?! Gotta hand it to them, they did a pretty amazing job! Check it out…

Cobra Starship is back from taking a small hiatus and has just dropped a new Icona Pop assisted single titled “Never Been In Love“. Video Premiere: Taylor Swift – Shake It Off

by: Taj | August 18th, 2014

Taylor Swift has finally completely ditched the country girl-next-door bit and has just released a straight forward pop record titled “Shake It Off” where she doesn’t even try to pull off a down-home twang. While the video is very tongue-in-cheek and portrays Taylor posing in different dance themed scenes in a poking fun type of way, the song itself seems like a serious attempt to go even more mainstream with her sound than any of her previous efforts. Yes, both “Trouble” and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” were both pretty solid pop records as well but I feel like she tried to retain some of her country appeal vocally in those two previous hits where as in this song you may have never known it was Taylor Swift had you not been told before hand. I will say that though I’m not really a fan of Mrs. Swift, this song is a lot more likable for me right off that bat than the songs I already mentioned above. Take a listen to “Shake It Off” and let me know if you are feeling it…

Video Premiere: Michael Jackson – A Place With No Name

by: Taj | August 14th, 2014

Michael Jackson (or the Michael Jackson Estate I should say) has just dropped a new music video for the latest single, “A Place With No Name“, lifted off of his post-mortem album! Using iconic dance footage (as well as some never before seen behind the scenes clips) from the visual for his 1991 hit “In The Closet” along side new footage shot with a dancing duo, I think the studio did a really good job turning out a pretty decent video for the song. Check it out…

Video Premiere: Ariana Grande Ft. Zedd – Break Free

by: Taj | August 13th, 2014

I guess sci-fi inspired music videos are the hot trend these days. Shortly after I posted the visually stunning science fiction inspired video for Robyn’s latest single, Ariana Grande launched this clip for her latest single “Break Free” into orbit today. Though Ariana’s take on sci-fi plays very differently than Robyn’s, it’s still a fun little vid that is kind of an nod to couple of old-school ‘futuristic’ themed TV show such as Land of the Lost and the original Star Trek! Check it out…
