Ryan Tedder Rationalizes Why His Song Wasn’t A Hit… Blames Leona Lewis.

by: Taj | January 25th, 2010

Ryan Tedder is blabbing to the media yet again and is blaming Leona Lewis for the disappointing performance of the latest single that he wrote for her. Tedder is convinced that “Happy” failed to make impact in the US market because Leona didn’t promote it properly in the United States.

“In the US, unless you’re Justin Timberlake or Beyoncé, you cannot put out a song and not be in the country when it comes out,”

Tedder was hoping to see the same success with “Happy” that Leona accomplished with her debut single “Bleeding Love,” which he also wrote.

Leona was gone for six weeks when ‘Happy’ came out because she was promoting the record in other countries – it wasn’t her fault; she couldn’t be two places in once. I had radio stations telling me that they thought ‘Happy’ was the single biggest ballad they’d come across in ten years, but that if Leona didn’t come over here and promote it, it was going to fall.”

However, Tedder didn’t completely blame Leona on the single’s poor performance… He also blames Lady Gaga.

“On top of that, America’s consumed with Lady GaGa and dance music right now, so it’s not the best time for ballads anyway”, he said. “When everything on the radio is blasting out at 120 bpm, a song like ‘Happy’ almost sounds out-of-place.”

As much as I love “Happy” and do think that it’s a great song… I find it funny how he’s blaming everyone else and just can’t fathom that maybe this song wasn’t as strong a production than some of his other works. Someone needs to eat a slice of humble pie!

Myth Buster: Leona Lewis IS NOT Working With Kings Of Leon…

by: Taj | January 7th, 2010

Just call me DJ Taj the myth buster because that’s basically what I’ve been doing all week. LOL…

So there have been stories spreading like wild-fire all over the Internet about Leona Lewis collaborating with Kings of Leon for the re-release of her Echo album this week but as much as I want this one to be true… it’s simply not. Kings of Leon have discounted the rumors themselves by writing this statement to their fans;

“Contrary to reports out there Kings Of Leon are not writing or recording with Leona Lewis. No offense to her.”

Sorry guys… But there still lies hope with another Leona Lewis collaboration rumor. Supposedly Simon Cowell is trying to hook Leona up with Robbie Williams for a little duet singing action. So far that rumor has yet to be discounted but I haven’t looked into it that hard yet either. Believe me, I’ll get to the bottom of that one as well…

Leona Lewis’ Attacker Sent To Mental Hospital…

by: Taj | December 16th, 2009

The man who attacked Leona Lewis during her book signing a few months back, Peter Kowalczyk, has pleaded guilty to assulting Leona and has been ordered to remain in a mental hospital for an indeterminate period of time. The sad part is that Peter is schizophrenic and had stopped taking his meds when he punched Leona in the face. Leona issued this statement at the time;

“I feel completely devastated by this attack. Now I am very frightened about going out in public and I don’t know where the next attack will come from and if this will be more serious than what has just happened.”

During the sentencing, District Judge Howard Riddle scolded Kowalczyk and reminded him the severity of his condition;

“This is what happens when you don’t take your medication. A woman is now devastated.”
