I’m currently loving this cover version of Jennifer Lopez’ “Waiting For Tonight” performed by Ekowraith and remixed by DJ’s From Mars. This electro rework is the perfect update for this club classic!

Since Whitney Houston can barley since this song herself anymore… Death Metal Disco Scene has done a smooth little electro-pop cover of “I Wanna Dance With Somebody“. Love me some Whitney but since she insists on destroying her instrument by smoking, I’ve come to the conclusion that I’ll just have to look forward to some amazing covers of her classic hits if I want to hear them sung properly!

The Bird and the Bees are back with a brand new tune which just happens to be a cover of one of my favorite 80’s songs… “Man Eater” originally sung by Hall & Oats. I adore (lead singer) Inara George’s smooth vocal on this one… Makes me want to jump out my seat and start doing an embarrassing 80’s dance! (You know, the one where you flail your arms from side to side while snapping.)

Not a fan of Kristen Stewart but when I first read that she was starring in a new movie called The Runaways playing rock icon Joan Jett, I thought I might give her another chance. Today, I came across this cover of Joan’s hit “Cherry Bomb” that Kristen recorded with co-star Dakota Fanning and I seriously doubt I will see this movie now! THIS SUCKS SO BAD IT’S SACRILEGIOUS!!!! You could tell me that Joan Jett herself produced this version and thinks it’s better than her own and I would still want to gouge my eardrums out with ice-picks…
Up and coming singer/songwriter Mateo has just done a beautiful cover of Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance“. As sick as I am of this song, I could listen to this new version on repeat for weeks! Also, check out Mateo’sMyspace page where you can hear some of his other recordings which are all pretty INCREDIBLE!!!

Lady Gaga’s opening act in Europe, Danish pop group Alphabeat, have recorded a really good medley of Gaga’s recent hits “Bad Romance” & “Telephone“. I like these fun covers WAY better than the originals! Maybe Gaga should just write for Alphabeat and hang up the clown shoes for good!

And I have to agree with him! While Jay-Z thinks it’s great that all these stars joined forces to lend a helping hand for Haiti… He thinks to remake a classic such as “We Are The World” is unthinkable!
“I have a interesting take on that. I know everybody is gonna take this wrong: “We Are the World,” I love it, and I understand the point and think it’s great. But I think “We Are the World” is like ‘Thriller” to me. I don’t ever wanna see it touched. I’m a fan of music. I know the plight and everything that’s going on in Haiti. So I appreciate the efforts and everything, but “We are the World” is untouchable like “Thriller” is untouchable. Some things are just untouchable. It was a valiant effort, but for me, it’s gonna be untouchable.”
Jay-Z went on to add that he feels a new “classic” should have been written for the effort…
“As everyone knows, I have tremendous respect for Quincy Jones. Of course, I think he’s genius, as everyone else does. But I think it’s time for us to make a new song. I tried to do that with “Stranded,” (The song he performed along with Rihanna, Bono and the Edge at the ‘Hope for Haiti Now’ telethon). I didn’t try to make “We Are the World,” but I tried to make our take on how we felt.”
It’s finally here! The much anticipated remake of “We Are The World” that will benefit the Haiti relief charity. Amazing that after all this time, this song has remained relevant… must admit however that this new version doesn’t hold a torch to the original!
Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper appeared together on the Today Show to talk about their Mac Viva Glam campaign… I find it funny that neither woman sounded really too enthused when they were asked if they would ever collaborate musically…
Before there was Shakira, there was Charo… The original queen of hip-shakin’ still has some feisty moves and proved that she can still “hang with the kids” when she performed a cover version of Rihanna’s “Don’t Stop The Music” on some telethon. (And the Jody Den Broeder version, too!!) This is one of those times that it’s so bad that it’s good!
