New Music: Kat Graham – Cold Hearted Snake (Paula Abdul Cover… Kinda)

by: Taj | August 25th, 2010

Actress Kat Graham from the hit television series Vampire Dairies is taking a stab at a music career with a new track called “Cold Hearted Snake“. While it’s not exactly a proper cover of the Paula Abdul song, it barrows heavily from Paula’s classic hit and keeps the chorus intact! I’ve been waiting for a good update of this song and I think Kat did a great job breathing new life into it. Still, I would love to hear someone do a good cover of the (entire) song someday.

Cover Art: The Saturdays – Baby (Justin Bieber Cover)

British girl group The Saturdays have done a nice little accoustic cover of Justin Bieber’s hit “Baby“. I like their version so much better than the original… Especially the part where they sing and harmonize Ludacris‘ rap portion of the song! I think they should record a studio version of this rendition!

International pop star (and soon-to-be newest Glee cast member) Charice gave a very impressive live performance of the Beyonce hit “Halo” when she recently visited the corporate office of Rolling Stone magazine. Not really sure why she put on the little show for the staff but I’m glad someone recorded it for us to hear. This girl is actually pretty damn amazing! Check out her beautiful rendition of the “Halo“…  Her vocal’s really soar around the 1:12 mark on!

It’s Not Britney Bitch!!! Britney Demo Turns Out To Be A Fake…

by: Taj | June 28th, 2010

So I started off writing this article about a very short 7 second clip that’s being passed around the Internet right now claiming to be a Britney Spears singing a demo version of the OneRepublic hit “Apologize“… Supposedly She recorded it for her Blackout album. Here is the clip that people are buzzing about!…

Britney Spears? – Apologize (Demo):

Totally Britney Spears, right?!!! Wrong! As I was writing the article and looking for refrences, I stubled upon this little video…

Turns out that the supposed Britney demo is actually a 17 year old aspiring musician named Bridie Heaton. She says she’s not a Britney impersonator and that she’s just being “Bridie“. As a matter of fact, if you visit her Youtube channel, she does a lot of covers that are NOT BRITNEY songs. (All of which sound like Britney covering other artists.) She’s even posted some of her own original compositions that aren’t bad at all! The girl is actually a decent singer and with some vocal training could really make a name for herself as the non-lip syncing Britney. LOL. Check her out!

Cover Art: Scissor Sisters – All The Lovers (Kylie Minogue Cover)

Hmmm… Not sure how I feel about this. The Scissor Sisters have covered Kylie Minogue’s All The Lovers” On BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge and have transformed the dance anthem into a country ho-down! Jake Shears of the Scissor Sisters had a heavy hand in Kylie’s new album so it’s no big surprise that the group decided to cover one of her tunes on Live Lounge. I like it but I have to admit that the country vibe is SO throwing me off. Give me another day or two with this one and I’ll let you know how I really feel once I’ve had a chance to warm up to it… Very different version.

Nothing Says Attention Whore Like…

Lady Gaga at a baseball game in her bra and panties… Again! I guess her current single “Alejandro” isn’t garnering her enough attention so she needs to resort to these antics.

Cover Art: Miley Cyrus – Every Rose Has Its Thorn (Poison Cover)

With the whole Miley Cyrus/Perez Hilton crotch shot scandal making big headlines, it can be easy to forget she’s getting to releasing a new album. Just had a chance to listen to the record and while I’m not really a fan of her music… I have to admit that it’s a pretty good pop record. I think my favorite track on the album is the Bret Michaels/Poison cover, “Every Rose Has Its Thorn“. (But then again I’m always a sucker for a good cover) Check it out…

by: Taj | June 16th, 2010

Robyn stopped by BBC Radio 1 this week and performed 2 songs including this beautiful live cover version of Alicia Keys’ soulful ballad “Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart“. I sometimes forget that Robyn is more than just a fun little pop entertainer… She’s actually a great vocalist! Check it out…

Anywho, the “Bohemian Rhapsody” scene just ended which got me to thinking about my favorite cover of the Queen classic that I recently discovered… Pop-rocker Pink performed an amazing rendition of the song on her recent Fun House Tour which I thought was one of the highlights of the entire concert!! If you’ve never seen it before, I highly suggest you take a moment to watch this!

Sneak Peak: Glee Finale “Faithfully” Performance…

by: Taj | June 3rd, 2010

I stopped watching Glee a few weeks back… Completely lost interest. I just can’t take the cringe-worthy “forced” musical numbers anymore but I know a lot of my readers are still “gleeks” so I thought I would share this with you. It’s a sneak peak of the cast’s rendition of Journey’sFaithfully” that will be featured in the season finale. Not as good as the inspiring “Don’t Stop Believing” performance from the first episode but I’m sure all you die-hard Glee fans will enjoy it…
