Evanescence front-woman, Amy Lee, recently opened up about what we can expect from the new album that the band is currently recording. Amy is excited with the new LP and says that the band is having “fun with music” by experimenting with a new, electro-driven sound.
“It’s not an organic record. Our idea is to take synthetic and atmospheric sounds and find a way to blur the line between organic and synthetic… There is something really cool happening in music right now. There are bands that sound like they’re from another time — it’s like ’80s throwback music with analogue synthesizers and Moogs. I love it. I’ve been listening to a lot of La Roux.”
Amy also sited other bands such as MGMT, CCS, Depeche Mode, Massive Attack & Portishead as inspirations for the new direction and says that the new record will be “rhythmically driven”…
“There’s a lot of stuff that doesn’t sound like Evanescence, but the heart of the band of still there. This is a really, really, rhythmically driven record. So there’s tons of drum-programming fused with live drums.”
Sounds very exciting… Can’t wait to hear the new material!
