More tragic news about the tragic stage accident that took place yesterday on Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet Tour… I’m afraid one of the crew members that was seriously injured when the set roof collapsed yesterday has passed away in a French hospital today. That takes the death toll surrounding this horrible accident to two now. One other crew member died on the spot. So sad… Madonna issued a statement yesterday stating that she was “devastated” and has canceled the show in the city of Marseille where the stage was being built when the accident happened.
She did perform in Italy lastnite and took time to speak to the audeince to about the tragic accident.
“Before I continue the show I want to take a moment to acknowledge and pay tribute to two people who lost their lives today. I don’t know if you’ve heard. Two men building my show in Marseille where we’re going next – the crane fell and we don’t know why. Charles Prow and Charles Criscenzo. I hate to be associated with suffering. I want to pay tribute to their families. Let’s take a moment to appreciate our family, loved ones, friends around us.”
She then performed a tearful rendition of “You Must Love Me” that audience members say she has a rough time getting through.
Again, our prayers go out to the families involved in this sad sad tragedy.
