The lost Art of Conversation, Written by my friend Bart Johnson

The Lost Art of Conversation- how ironic that I’d write this in a Blog and send it out to the speechless entity of the internet. First people, put down your phones, Blackberry, and just read the written word from paper. They are real words, just like those we speak, not texting, sexting nor tweeting. The reason for this blog is to ask people why they don’t speak or communicate the spoken word to another person. I see so many people attached to their cell phones, and texting and I wonder what will happen in 20 years when people choose the Internet platform as a means of conversation? I came out in 1981 and back then the only way to meet anyone was to walk up and speak to them face to face. Perhaps you exchanged numbers and hoped for a call back, or a message on your answer machine. I go in the clubs now and see everyone on cell phones, talking texting and sexting. The only way to really know someone is by conversation face to face, not hiding behind the secure veil of the Internet. The spoken word is a gift, and too many people don’t use it as much as they should. Your electronic devices should not define who you are as a person. Your level of intelligence and command of the language you speak should define you. So the next time you want to text someone 12 feet away, go over and talk to them.
