  • MISSION STATEMENT:

    Our goal for TANTRUMS & TIARAS- Battle of the Bar Queens is to put on an annual community event that is daring outragous "beauty" pageant you have to see to believe!

    Watch these divas break out their highest platform heels with their finest evening gowns and flashiest make up to battle for the tiara !

    Watch a bunch of “queens” with "LITTLE" to "NO" experience in drag try to strut around the stage in stilettos and not fall over.

    All in all, we want Battle of the Bar Queens to be a night to remember for the contestants, the judges, and of course, the audience. 100% of the proceeds raised during the “FUN-D-RAISER” will benefit MAMAS Kitchen. The venue, prizes, and other items needed to host Battle of the Bar Queens are all being donated- so we're looking forward to being able to raise a significant amount of money without having to worry about covering overhead costs.

TANTRUMS & TIARAS: Battle of the Bar Queens a Success

SAN DIEGO) More than 700 people gathered at the Birch North Park Theatre for the first annual Battle of the Bar Queens.

The over the top production raised over $45,000 for its benefactor, Mama’s Kitchen.

“The night was a great success,” said Alberto Cortez, Executive Director, Mama’s Kitchen. “The crowd was very eager and engaged and there were many wonderful situations throughout the evening.

“The show reflected an amazing commitment and amount of work from the contestants and the community that put it together – they did an amazing job. I am really grateful to the community; it was really a lovely show of generosity and support for people suffering from AIDS and an impressive show of commitment from the GLBT community for Mama’s Kitchen mission.”

Mama’s Kitchen will be utilizing the funds to purchase food and meal containers. They expect the funds will provide for at least 14,185 meals.

    Etiquette:

    Tantrums and Tiaras will be a non traditional pagent with many ways to contribute and be apart of the show. Below are the etiquette's of the show. Please read before attending.

    Tipping:
    If you see something you like then take your One's, Five's, Ten's, and even 20's, crumble them up and throw to the stage.
    We want to see the bills flying the night of event.
    If you don't want to throw then you can throw them in the fish nets which the Cockettes will be walking around with.
    (before the show starts the Cockettes will be able to make change for you)

    Donating to Mama's Kitchen:
    is totally acceptable and encourage. Please bring a check or fill out a form during the show and hand to the Cockettes. We will try to read the donation during the show and you can even write a note to read for the donation.
